We hope this letter finds you all well and that the season is becoming one of blessings and not too much stress of the myriad of trappings! The top shelves of our cupboards are sporting bags of goodies to be wrapped in time for Christmas, the tree is arriving soon and Lillia and Nina are practicing being sheep in readiness for the church production! (We won’t mention the fact that Matt is rapping at the same event!)
It’s quite amazing to think we returned from NZ earlier this year - in some ways it feels like yesterday, but the reality is we’ve been back for nine months. A number of our conversations still begin, ‘when we were in New Zealand …’ which, unsurprisingly, keeps reminding us of the great time we had over there. Though the weather is only just turning wintery now, a warm and sunny Christmas in 2010 was quite a treat J
UK has treated us well, one comforting factor was returning to our house in Norwich – it really did feel very welcoming to be back in a place that we know and enjoy, though comically Lillia had no recollection of the place. Since returning Lillia has established herself at two nurseries – now going 5 mornings a week to one of them and her application for school is also submitted. She is quite a favorite at nursery; having invited all her class to her 4th birthday party, most of the Mum’s informed us that Lillia was often talked about at home! As we are learning, the crossover of activities and bumping into parents and class mates is becoming quite regular which we are all enjoying. Lillia is also now learning to swim and is enjoying being the big sister to Nina – though one could easily read that as ‘ring leader’!
Nina is an incredible bundle of energy at the moment. She is incredibly gung ho and (thankfully) a robust little lady as she pursues her big sister with vigor. The rugby world cup obviously made an impact as her welcome home to Daddy became more and more like a try saving tackle every day. She is talking nonstop; eating like a horse, would go 24/7 if she had the chance – but at some point the batteries run out and she crashes!
Catching up with friends and family has naturally punctuated our year too, thanks for all those enjoyable camping trips, days out to the zoo, the dinosaur park, legoland and a few trips to the beach. I think we should do some more in 2012 J
Matt’s work at Aviva has been busy this year with a new programme manager role, delivering successfully ahead of Christmas which is a great present in itself. Fiona continues to keep the home fires burning and running about the borough, think we know that that will only get busier. Returning to church has been good too, and we’re looking forward to a church weekend away in the New Year.
Every blessing for 2012.
